Just above this area, there are 4 thin scratches that are only visible under certain lighting. Additional white markings visible above and to the right of the mountain. This could be residue from something rubbing on the canvas, but looks to be something that a restorer could easily handle. The proper left bottom border has some residue near the frame, which could be consistent with the same stuff at the top. Overall, this painting is a very handsome example.

The "Oculus" has a horizontal scratch and pigment flake loss to the upper left. The "Dancing Devil" has two innate nail holes to the upper left (they're filled with paint; they were there when the artist painted on the board) and a large, but light, surface scratch to the lower right quadrant. The green orbs in the lower left exhibit an area that appears to be a stain, but is instead an anomaly in the surface finish. While most of the painted surface is quite matte, this area has more of a satin finish- this could be a touch-up repair, but it is more consistent with inconsistent saturation of pigment into the masonite wood ground.
